"Hilary Loftus has run our sailing program at Brewer Pilots Point Marina for many years. When she started, it was just a small day camp for our customers' children to enjoy getting to know the waterfront.

Over the years, Hilary has grown the program into a full scale sailing school in which she provides classroom and on the water training for adults and families, women sailing, youth sailors and the Special Olympics sailing team. Last year over two hundred sailors, from beginners to racing team members, attended her school, learning basic sailing and safety skills to advanced racing techniques. She is particularly adept at bringing the young sailors along to accept positions of responsibility. Several of our current senior instructors and coaches started off sailing as 8 year olds under Hilary’s watchful and caring eye.

Hilary’s passion for sailing and teaching has been a great asset for our sailing school. The ever present smiles on the kids’faces and the adults are evidence that her school is a success."
